City of St. Augustine Beach Glass Recycling

Beach Partners with City for Glass Recycling Program

November 9, 2023, St. Augustine Beach, Fl. - In partnership with the City of St. Augustine, the city is excited to announce that glass recycling is available in the City of St. Augustine Beach.

A glass ONLY recycling dumpster is located at the South end of the City Hall parking lot (between the old Post Office Building and the Police Department).

Todd Grant, Public Works Director for the City of St. Augustine commented, “The City and the Beach have had a long relationship of helping each other out.  When the Beach took over the collection of recycling, we helped out by providing dumpsters for residents to continue to recycle until the Beach staff was ready to provide curbside service.  Helping to reduce and eliminate glass in the waste stream is very important to both cities and this is the first step to finding a permanent solution.”

The program is expected to run indefinitely, and the City of St. Augustine Beach welcomes the opportunity to provide additional services for its residents.

City of St. Augustine Beach Commissioner, Undine George stated “Throwing glass in a landfill doesn't make sense, but the Beach ran out of options for recycling glass until the City of St. Augustine agreed to collaborate with us on this initiative. Environmental stewardship is extremely important to our Beach residents so this new glass recycling dumpster at the Beach City Hall will get a lot of use. On behalf of our shared environment, and our little City, I would like to extend a big thank you to the City of St. Augustine for helping to make this happen!”
